Besides sharing all the food and fixings with our friends and family, the primary ingredient of LIFE is Love.
While it is a great thing to have holidays to remind us to express our love, we should be looking at cultivating that spirit of love year round. Every day should be a blessing because that’s all we have is today.
When we are thankful for what we have on a continuous basis we are better able to cope with the stress in our lives, be more positive with our emotions. Scientists have even noted that gratitude is associated with improved health. ( Expressing love may be one of the simplest ways to feel better).
The word gratitude comes from the Latin word gratia, which means grace, graciousness, or gratefulness. In some ways gratitude includes all of these meanings. Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what a person receives as a gift or a feeling inside.
With gratitude and love people recognize the goodness in their lives , and realize the source of that goodness is at least partially outside of themselves. People connect with something higher than themselves, whether that is to other people, nature, or a higher power.
We feel gratitude for things that have happened to us in the past (as we grew up, or for past blessings that have been bestowed upon us), The present, be thankful for what we have today, and the future with a hopeful and optimistic attitude.
DR. P Murali Doraiswamy , head of biologic psychology at Duke University Medical Center once stated that “If (Thankfulness) were a drug, it would be the worlds best selling product with a health maintenance indication for every major organ system”.
One way of getting the positive power of gratitude and love is to keep a journal or list of the things you are grateful for every day and write them in the journal. People who have kept these journals have shown a number of positive effects on them including fewer visits to the doctor compared to those who focused on sources of aggravation.
Ways To Cultivate Love
Developing a sense of love will help you refocus your attention on the things that are good and right in your life giving a much more positive attitude, instead of what you feel you are lacking in your life.
Like any other muscle you can strengthen your mental muscle with practice. Here are some other ways you can create a sense of gratitude.
Write Thank you notes : for an act of kindness an expression of love, a gift or just to thank someone for being there for you. This is a way for you to feel good about the positive things in you life and to make others feel good also.
Count your Blessings: Once a week think about the things you are grateful for and write them down. You will feel a sense of happiness as you recall those events and the feelings that you had at that time by going over it again in your mind.
Pray: Expressing thanks and love while you pray is an other form of cultivating gratitude.

So you have the opportunity to change your thoughts around and either helping or hindering your ability to feel better and positively about the next moment in your life. Most experts agree that there are no shortcuts to happiness(IT’S A STATE OF MIND). Even generally happy people are not happy 24/7. But a happy person can have a bad day and still find something to be grateful for, even a small thing.
Be thankful for what you have . When life gives you 100 reasons to cry , remember the 1000 reasons you have to smile.
Your past is over , prepare for the future without being afraid of it (embrace it). Let your mind think of all the good things that are happening now in the present moment and practice Gratitude. Being thankful for what ever happens in you life it is a learning experience. The rough times are part of life’s lessons and we are to learn from them.
We are learning to be a positive influence in this world. OUR MENTORS are teaching us to help others SMILE again.
